Equitable Engagement with Graduate Students

An introductory social equity and diversity workshop and networking event for graduate student representatives across the Faculty of Engineering. The focus of this event is on promoting graduate and postdoc involvement in equity initiatives on campus. Co-facilitated with Meryem Benslimane (Equity Education Advisor) and co-organised with the Faculty of Engineering Equity Committee.

Summer Picnic Q&A

​

An informal picnic discussion group for participants to de-stress, review key takeaways from past events, ask questions, and provide feedback and suggestions for future events.

Fall 2018 Photo Contest

Submission Period: September-October 2018

Exhibition Date: November 26, 2018

Venue: Trottier Building, Lobby

 

We invited Chemical Engineering graduate students and postdocs to show off their creativity with photo submissions in the following categories:

​

  1. Where do I find a piece of home in Montréal? (Individual Category)

  2. How does our diversity make our lab a fun place to belong? (Team Category)

  3. This is my research. (Individual Category)

​

A jury of support staff evaluated the submissions in Categories 1 & 2, while Category 3 was evaluated via popular vote. All submissions were exhibited at a wine and cheese reception. The top-ranked participant(s) in each category were presented with a certificate and $100 Amazon gift card. This was a phenomenal way to bring together students, staff, and professors to celebrate the diversity found within our department! Check out all the outstanding submissions in our gallery!

Graduate Equity Networking

A networking event designed to connect graduate students involved or interested in social equity initiatives at McGill University. An opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences, and resources. The chEDC presents their model for success in launching equity initiatives in Engineering. Co-organised with PGSS Equity and Diversity.

An interdepartmental de-stress event for students and postdocs to unwind through artistic creativity and social connection. Take advantage of a guided art exercise or use the free space to do your own thing! No experience is necessary, and all materials are provided. Co-hosted by ChEGSS, MMGESA, and BBMESS​

1st Annual Summer Games

Celebrate the continuing summer weather with a fun evening of interdepartmental lawn games! Form teams and accrue points for your department with every game you win---the department with the most points will get the ultimate champions' trophy! Prizes will also be awarded to the winners of each game. No experience is necessary, and all materials (and food!) are provided. Co-hosted with ChEGSS, MMGESA, and BBMESS​
